Frankfurt-Hahn Airport was originally a US military airport and was opened in 1993 as a commercial airport. It is the sixth largest airport in Germany, located about 125 km west of Frankfurt am Main. In passenger traffic, it is mainly served by the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair. The airport is not connected to public transport, but is served by bus lines.
Frankfurt am Main is the fifth largest city in Germany and part of the Rhein-Main conurbation. It is one of the most important international financial centres and the home of the European Central Bank. Frankfurt has one of the Germany’s most impressive skylines which can be enjoyed on top of the “Main Tower”.
Not far from the skyscrapers, however, you will also find cosy pubs and historical sights. The “Museumshochburg” has numerous cultural institutions, impressive architecture and is one of the most important museum locations in Europe. One of the most famous sights is the St. Paul's Church in Frankfurt. It was built in 1833 and is considered the "cradle of German democracy". Directly opposite the church is the “Römer”, which has been the town hall and one of the city's landmarks since the 15th century.
