Gatwick is the second busiest airport in the UK and the second biggest in London after Heathrow. Interestingly, it has the busiest single runway in the world which is able to handle up to 55 flights per hour.

Gatwick is a large international airport which plays host to a number of major airlines such as British Airways, Aer Lingus and Cathay Pacific. Destinations that can be travelled to from this airport include Dubai, Amsterdam, Prague and Geneva. Gatwick airport was built on top of what was an Airfield and a racecourse which was operational from the 1920’s. However it isn’t until 1936 that the first commercial flight between the aerodrome and Paris Le Bourget took place. After World War 2 following the decommissioning of the airport by the British government and with the rapid expansion of air travel, passenger traffic at the airport never ceased to grow.
