The Park, Ride & Fly garage is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is located across from the DOTPF Central Regional Headquarters on International Airport Road. An on demand shuttle service takes passengers to and from both airport terminals in a matter of minutes and the maximum stay is 90 days.
To collect passengers from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport drive to the Cell Phone Lot to await them before meeting outside Baggage Claim. The car garage is just a two minute drive from both the South and North Terminals. During the week there are 15 places available and this increases to 30 in the evenings and at weekends. To get there from International Airport Road, turn right at the Aviation Avenue Exit and follow the signs.

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport sits six miles (ten kilometers) southwest of downtown Anchorage. Located in the south of Alaska it is equidistant from New York and Tokyo, and within nine and a half hours of 90 per cent of the industrialized world.
If you want to reach downtown Anchorage there are a variety of transport options available. Taxis are available on the Commercial Curbside of the North Terminal and the Ground Transportation Island outside the South Terminal and the journey takes around 15 minutes. An alternative method is on the People Mover Bus route 7 which provides a service seven days a week and takes around 30 minutes.
Many airports provide a free shuttle service and there are also local companies providing shared rides to anywhere in the metropolitan area. For those taking cruises during the summer months, the train depot in the airport operates transporting cruise passengers to Seward or Wittier.
History of Ted Stevens Anchorage Airport
Built in 1951 as Anchorage International Airport, it soon became the ‘Air Crossroads of the World’. Due to Soviet and Chinese airspace being out of bounds, ANC became the stopover for passengers flying between Europe and Asia. Although this ceased in the early 1990s Anchorage underwent renovation and expansion throughout the next decades. Renamed in 2000 to honor the US Senator Ted Stevens, it now provides over 40 airline carriers serving more than 20 passenger destinations.

Car
Anchorage International Airport is located in southern Alaska and you can navigate there via the ZIP code AK 99502. From the north: drive south on the Glenn Highway to Anchorage, this turns into 5th Avenue which ends at ‘L’ Street where you need to turn left. This becomes Minnesota Dive, take a right onto International Airport Road leading to the airport. From the south: drive north on Seward Highway and exit at the O’Malley interchange where you turn left on O’Malley Road. This turns into Minnesota Drive where you exit left onto International Airport Road which takes you to the airport.

Anchorage International Airport offers 16 retail outlets and half a dozen food and drink options, of which most are located in the South Terminal. The selection of restaurants, shops and art exhibitions on offer are all designed to give you an introduction to Alaskan culture. You can pick up some last minute Alaskan souvenirs, try some famous Alaskan fresh fish, or have some locally brewed ale and, if you still have time to kill, you can take a trip to the ground level to see some Alaskan art.
